A Letter
From The President
Granite Bank is built on the values of Minnesota farming. We recognize that family, neighbors and community make our success. When we help each other, we all do well. And when one is in need, we all are.
Granite Bank was borne out of the 1980s farm crisis. My father, Jerry Reiter was a dairy farmer and believed that there was a better way to do business, the farmer way: work hard, know your customers, put in an honest day’s work. He switched to community banks to improve the way farmers were treated.
Banking is only as good as the relationship it depends on. With our roots in the community, we want to make sure our people are taken care of. Whether it’s a first home, a downsize, an everyday checking account or a college savings account for the grandkids, Granite Bank has the people to make it happen. We understand the forces that shape interest rates and the spreadsheets that make high-yield savings accounts work for you.
“I still think of making that farmer’s life a little easier, a little more secure,” Jerry says. “A bank should be there when you need it and stay out of the way when you don’t.”
Since the 1980s
History
Granite Bank is proudly owned and operated by the Reiter family, embodying our core value of Family Feel. Jerry Reiter began his banking career during the 1980s farm crisis, working for Farm Credit and managing another community bank in Central Minnesota for over 20 years. With an entrepreneurial spirit, Jerry sought the opportunity to purchase a bank of his own. In 2010, he became the CEO of The First National Bank of Cold Spring, with the promise of future ownership.
After successfully turning the organization around and rebranding it, Jerry, along with a close group of investors, purchased the bank in 2015. Since then, Granite Bank has grown from $80 million in assets to $300 million, demonstrating our commitment to Empowerment and Agility.
Sons Jacob Reiter (EVP), Luke Reiter (CFO), and Nick Reiter (Commercial Lender) have joined the business, ensuring that our Family Feel continues to thrive.
At Granite Bank, we prioritize Accessibility and Transparency in all our operations, ensuring that our customers always come first. Our growth and success are driven by our dedication to these core values, helping us serve our community better every day.

I feel most welcomed at Granite Bank because of how the staff interacts with me. Everyone there is so nice and there is one employee in particular that makes me feel at home. Her name is Kim and she is one of the reasons I stay with Granite Bank. She knows my name, she understands my situation, she’s familiar the numerous accounts I have and she helps me conduct my banking quickly and easily. Finances can be complicated, and she helps me understand the nuances with professional kindness, banking savvy and a good sense of humor. I really appreciate you, Kim.
